Spring Break Series {BIKINIS} Styled By Sarah

Omg this is by far my favorite topic to talk about!!! I could go on for dayyyss about bathing suits. So if you want to just look at the products scroll down because I will go on for like 10 minutes here in the introduction. Side note: My second favorite topic is summer outfits and I did a post about that here: Spring Break Outfits.

No joke, my favorite present to give at a baby shower is legit a bathing suit (no matter if it’s a girl or boy..). I want to be the person who bought that cute little kid their first swimsuit. I have been spending my summers in bathing suits since before I can remember. Being by the water has always been a huge part of my family’s life. As an accountant, my mom used to take the summers off (at least partially) and we would spend most days at our camp (which is on a lake) or at our favorite beach, Pemaquid Beach. And then in high school, my parents told me that if I volunteered I didn’t have to work soooo I ended up spending most days in the summer at the beach (usually Old Orchard Beach!). So yeah, bathing suits have always made up a large part of my summer wardrobe because, of course, I don’t like rewearing them that often. Luckily, my sister also has the same obsession and we’re the same size!

Lately, I’ve been seeing a lot of girls ask for bathing suit recommendations on Facebook. In my eyes, the answer isn’t super easy. I’ve never just purchased my bathing suits from one place. I think there are tons of options out there. However, I do buy a lot of mine off Amazon (or ASOS) nowadays especially when it’s this close to Spring Break (9 days) and I don’t want to deal with shipping. I’ve seen many girls recommend Cupshe and just keep in mind that if you’re a Prime member Amazon also has the Cupshe brand on their site! So, in this post, I will try and keep it as concise as possible by summing up my favorite bikini trends with Amazon links in the text then shoppable/clickable pictures from other retailers such as Forever 21, Nordstrom, ASOS, Target, American Eagle, Express, etc. I also have a little secret to share with you fuller chest ladies because I know that buying bathing suits can be more of a struggle for you girls!

Alsooo, I should state this more often, but I only usually include very affordable options (that goes for all of my blog posts). If you’re looking for a high end, expensive swimsuit you’re probably not going to find it here (unless it’s on sale or a dupe!). I’m a very frugal person especially when it comes to swimsuits because it’s not like you’re wearing it all the time or to an important business presentation. Most of these options are under $25! Personally, I don’t like to spend more than $20 on my bikinis (that’s including top & bottom!).

Also, just to note, a lot of these trends overlap but I tried to divide it up as best as I could. For example, there’s a lot of bikini sets that are scalloped or off-the-shoulder but also high waisted!

Ruffles: As a lifelong girly girl, I’ve always been a huge fan of ruffles. They’re a very classy sign of feminity. Sadly, when I wear them I tend to look a little childish due to my petite 5’1″ figure. However, some of these bikinis are so sexy even with the ruffle feature that any petite girl could pull them off. If these examples don’t make it clear that the ruffle trend is very “in” AND fashionable then I don’t know what will. Amazon has a ton of cute bikinis with ruffle detail all for under $25: Floral Print Ruffle Strap Bikini,
Ruffle Triangle Bikini SetRed High Waisted Ruffle BikiniDramatic High Waisted Ruffle Bikini, and Padded Ruffle Bikini Set.

Tassels & Pompoms: So to follow ruffles, I think it’s appropriate to bring up tassels and pom poms next. Although they’re not as common as ruffles they’re another great detail that can really add dimension to any suit. I’ve been wanting this $10 Palm Print Tassel Set from Amazon since last spring break and I just ordered this $11 Tassel Set from ASOS. I’ve also had my eye on this $25 Red Pom Pom High Waisted Bikini from Amazon because it’s very popular right now.

Off-The-Shoulder: I think that this is pretty much the buzz word trend right now. Off-the-shoulder could not be more in then it is right now. I rocked some great off-the-shoulder bikinis last spring break so I’m not going to buy any more this year but if you want to I’d so DO IT! It’s just such a good look! I have this Off the Shoulder Strappy Bikini. I really want these ones though as well from Amazon: High Waisted White and Palm BikiniStriped Bikini Set, $9 Off the Shoulder Bikini, and this $7 Off the Shoulder Floral Bikini

One-Shoulder: I thought that this would be a good follow up to off-the-shoulder. Although it isn’t AS popular it’s definitely a good look. I’ve been rocking the one-shoulder bikini since sophomore year of high school. I think that people kind of thought I was crazy back then. Amazon has some really fun one-shoulder sets: this One Shoulder Bow Bikini, this One Shoulder Scalloped Bikini, and this One Shoulder Ruffle Bikini that I mentioned up above.

Scalloped Trim: Some of you may be over this trend already but there are still tons of options if you aren’t! I think it’s such a classy look that’s so easy to pull off. Amazon has this cute $18 Scalloped Triangle Bikini in a bunch of colors, this
High Waisted Halter Scalloped Bikini starting at $9, this Patterned Scalloped Bikini, and this One Shoulder Scalloped Bikini that I featured above.

High Waisted Bikini Bottoms: Thank god these are still a thing. I don’t think there’s a look more flattering than high waisted…it just sucks you right in! My sister bought this Bow High Waisted Bikini from Amazon last year and I love it! Amazon also has many more affordable high waisted options right now: Rose Print High Waisted BikiniStrapless High Waisted BikiniStrappy High Waisted Bikini, and this Palm Leaf Print High Waisted Bikini.

Lacy/Lingerie Swimsuits: So I didn’t really realize that this was a thing until I was shopping on ASOS.com. Bathing suits, more than ever, are really starting to look like lingerie. I still haven’t decided if I’m a fan or not but I think ASOS did a great job getting the look down. There weren’t many options on Amazon but there is this $14 very sexy bikini that totally reminds me of a bra for some reason!

Fuller Bust Girls (Sorry idk if that’s what you liked to be referred to..): Okay so first, lucky you, and second, I know how much of a struggle buying bathing suits can be for you girls especially now that VS is no longer selling bathing suits. My bff (shout out to you Abby!) has struggled with this for many summers now so I’m used to hearing about it although I may not fully understand the struggle myself. I was so excited and felt like I needed to text Abby right away when I saw that ASOS has a Fuller Bust collection. The sizing in this collection ranges from DD-G and their pieces are more structured, similar to a bra, to help keep everything “contained”. This collection is extensive and has a large range of styles. I feel like most retailers would put a premium price on this collection, however, ASOS keeps the pricing for these swimsuits the exact same as the normal-sized suits. I’ll include shoppable clickable links below just as I’ve done above to prove that this collection is ah-mazing and so affordable!

Okay, sorry for the lengthy post but I hope you enjoyed it and I hope that it was informative! I’d love to know if you end up purchasing any of the ones that I recommended and whether you like it or not. Also, keep your eyes out for a one-piece swimsuit post later this week!

XOXO ~
