Spring Break Series {Part One} Styled by Sarah

Hey there! I decided to start a new series this spring, the Spring Break Series, because guess what, THIS GIRL BOUGHT HER PLANE TICKET YESTERDAY (clearly I’m really excited about it)! I know that not all of you are in college/take part in spring break but I think that this will be a helpful series for those of you who are taking a vacation this spring or just looking to freshen up your summer/tropical travel wardrobe ahead of time. I’ve actually seen a lot of girls on facebook looking for swimsuit recommendation recently too so that really encouraged me to create this series as well.

This series will feature different posts over the next few months and then I’ll finish it up with a little recap of how my spring break went Mid-March. I’m thinking posts about swimwear, weekenders/duffle bags, beach blankets, accessories, and how to pack like a pro! Does that sound good to you? If there’s anything specific that you want to see regarding spring break/traveling to a tropical place then shoot me a message or comment below and I’ll be sure to include it!

To start off this series I’m going to leave you with a few tips that have helped me:

1. Direct flights save lives (haha not really but omg they help A LOT): I spend an extra $100 to fly JetBlue direct because it saves time, you don’t have to worry about cancelations/delays as much, and it’s simply not as stressful. Also, JetBlue is one of my favorite domestic airlines (along with Virgin) so I really feel that it’s worth the extra money!

2. Google Flights is my fav way to book flights. Idk if it’s a common way to book flights nowadays but I’ve been using it for the past three years and I find it super easy to use and I really trust the prices that it shows me. My travel dates for spring break are flexible so I like how Google Flights lets me see many different dates & price options all in one calendar view. For this trip, I usually just filter the airline to Jetblue or filter by direct flight and then decide from there.

3. Make your packing list wayyy ahead of time and start thinking about what you want to buy. I’ll be doing this this weekend. This will allow you plenty of time to plan and shop (build in shipping time) so that you won’t be rushing last minute. Take a quick inventory of your closet/summer clothes and decide what you think you need and go from there. I know that it’s more difficult for me to plan in the winter for a tropical getaway because all of my summer clothes are hidden away.

4. Domestic trips within the US can be just as cool/fun as some opulent, over-the-top getaways. For spring break I’ve always stayed within the US and I’ve been really happy with my decision. My flight to Florida is usually under $200 (roundtrip) and I stay with my sister. Overall, it’s a very affordable vacation and I still have as much fun as I would if I went away to some all-inclusive resort! Other places in the US that I would have my eye on for spring break travel include other places in Florida (such as the West Palm, Miami, and the Keys), Nashville, the Outer Banks, and Charleston!

5. You deserve this trip! I’ve had multiple people, including my parents and boss, encourage me to go away for spring break and man does it feel good to hear that. Since starting college, I really haven’t had the time or money to take many big trips. However, I work very hard throughout the year and I do like to think that I have earned this trip for myself. I usually use the money that I make over winter break to pay for my plane ticket (even though I do feel slightly guilty because it should be going towards my crazy Boston rent). I also feel that it’s important to take this trip because I get to spend quality time with my sister (for those of you who don’t know she goes to school in FL so I don’t get to see her much during the school year & that’s hard). So if you’re still contemplating whether or not you should take that trip this spring, I say do it!

I’m going to conclude this post by linking a few things that I have my eyes on for Spring Break (much more to come in future posts). If you have any questions or want me to include something specific in this series please feel free to comment or reach out to me!

XOXO ~
