Pack Like A Pro Styled by Sarah

Okay, so the title may be a little misleading…I really do feel that I’m a pro-packer (Greg would agree!!) but this post will also include some good luggage suggestions, travel outfit pictures and a few packing tips! This is the second post of my spring break series. To view the first post in the series click here.

Luggage Suggestions: I’m a huge fan of duffle bags. I definitely prefer them over suitcases because they’re more manageable for me to carry/travel with as a petite girl & b/c it’s easier to find a more affordable option. I’ll link some clickable/shoppable pictures below! The duffle that I’m carrying in these pictures is from Ecosusi and it’s around $50 (what an awesome deal!). I honestly love it and actually have it in the navy blue as well (well one is Greg’s and the other is mine which = they’re both mine). It’s a really good quality bag and it has tons of pockets on the interior. You can shop the duffle here on Amazon or you can visit their website & check out their other duffle/travel options here.

Also, I had to throw this out there because I noticed that my favorite suitcases are actually on sale. If I was to buy a new suitcase it would probably be the “basic blogger” one from Delsey Paris. A lot of bloggers have this suitcase and rave about it. I honestly thought they went for around $500 but I just found it on sale on Amazon for $184!

And finally, some good packing tips (that you honestly may already know! Sorry!):

  • Ziplock bags are your best friend
    • 1. They’re cheaper than investing in plastic see-through travel organizer bags
    • 2. Space saving solution: You can get them to (almost) vacuum seal if you just really try to compress them and get all the air out when you’re packing. If you were to look inside my duffle you would think that there are vacuum sealed bags in there because of the way that I pack my zip lock bags.
    • 3. I’ve found that they’re the best way to stay organized. I either pack by outfit or I pack by type of clothing/item.
  • You really should roll your clothes
    • I know, I know, I know it’s annoying, it takes time, and why roll them if you’re just going to have to unroll them when you get there then do it all again when you leave…Well, if you’re an over-packer like me then it’s an essential space saving idea and it helps keep your clothes from getting wrinkled.
    • There’s plenty of youtube tutorials and articles to help you if you don’t know what I’m talking about. This article explains how to fold all of your clothes together and this youtube video shows you how to do a military fold.
  • Leave room to bring new stuff back
    • Hah! I honestly suck at this one. I am such an over-packer so I always need to remind myself of this.
    • When I go to Florida we always hit up the outlets in Naples so I plan to leave room for at least 5 new items.
  • Always pack an extra change of clothes in your carry on if you’re checking a bag
    • Don’t risk it,  leave room for at least one change of clothes.
  • Look into buying traveler’s insurance
    • I always go with the coverage that the airline offers.
    • Just. In. Case.
    • Be sure to read their policy (I’m not telling you to read the whole document but know to what extent you’re covered!)
  • Bring a dirty clothes bag, or find one when you get there, so that you can keep them separate!
    • As a neat/clean freak, this is a big one for me. I almost forgot to include this tip but luckily my roommate Samm reminded me to include it!
  • If you’re flying definitely research the bag specifications/requirements
    • For real, don’t be afraid to pull out a measuring tape to measure your bag if necessary. I’ve done it plenty of times!
  • Plan your outfits ahead of time
    • I always have to do this for myself and Greg when we travel. As an over-packer, this is something that saves me every time even if I’m just packing for a weekend back home.
  • This one seems a little extra and I probably wouldn’t do it myself but there is technology out there that allows you to track your luggage.
    • I would maybe consider this for an extended trip overseas
    • Here’s an article from 2017 that has a lot of different options
  • Make your packing list way ahead of time and revisit it as it gets closer
    • To give you an idea below, I’ve featured my preliminary packing list for Florida. Luckily, I’ll be staying with my sister and her and I are the same size so if I forget something it’s not a big deal.

XOXO ~
